What goes into a good Christmas hamper?

A good Christmas hamper balances something to drink or brew, something savoury for the table and something sweet, and all of it has to travel. Christmas here falls in summer, and hampers go by Australia Post, often for several days. We do not include perishable items like fresh flowers, fresh fruit or fresh cheese, because everything is built to travel safely across Australia.

What works instead is shelf-stable food with real flavour: cranberry sauce and hot mustard for the ham, olives and antipasto for a grazing board, nuts, crackers, shortbread and good chocolate. Every hamper also arrives with:

  • a gift box and a hand-tied ribbon
  • milk chocolates
  • a free printed personalised message on an A5 compliments slip
  • the matching printed occasion card where your message calls for one
  • tracking and free standard delivery

Want chocolate to be the point? The Luxury Indulgence Gift Hamper is $210 and pairs Lakker Chocolatiers Rich Dark Chocolate with Pana Organic Hot Chocolate, Whittaker's Dark Almond 62% and St Hallett Faith Shiraz. Shopping for gluten-free, vegan or nut-free? Talk to our team about dietary needs, because custom hampers can be built around a specific budget, dietary requirement, theme or recipient profile.

Which Australian brands go into our Christmas hampers?

If you want a Christmas hamper that tastes of home, look for these names. They are brands in our range we can say, with confidence, are Australian:

  • Chandon: Australian sparkling, including Brut NV and Rosé NV.
  • Four Pillars: gin, including Rare Dry Gin.
  • Penfolds, St Hallett and Jacob's Creek: Shiraz and Chardonnay.
  • Beerenberg: sauces and mustards, including Cranberry Sauce and Hahndorf Hot Mustard.
  • Lakker Chocolatiers: chocolate, including Rich Dark Chocolate.
  • Brookfarm, Kangaroo Island, Ogilvie and Co and Valley Produce Company: nuts, olives, antipasto, crackers and shortbread.

Our products are sourced through Australian businesses and suppliers, many of which are small family businesses. Some hampers also carry imported drops, such as French Champagne or Scotch whisky, and we name those for what they are.

Christmas hampers with alcohol, and without

Of our 132 hampers, 105 include alcohol and 27 are alcohol-free. If you are sending a Christmas alcohol gift, it always comes inside a hamper alongside food: wine (including sparkling), whisky or gin, never more than 1.5 litres in a package.

  • The purchaser and the recipient must both be 18 or over, and the driver checks ID at handover.
  • Hampers with alcohol are never left unattended, so send them where an adult will be in.
  • There is no alcohol delivery on Christmas Day.

For non-drinkers, the Sweet Indulgence Tea Hamper ($135), the Black Tea Haven Hamper ($90) and the Tea Time Gourmet Hamper ($235) are all alcohol-free and still feel festive.
